Allotment Blog December 2012

Bottom of plot digging completedSince my last visit to the allotment we have had manly rain and yesterday we had snow. So the first dry day was today, so I visited the allotment this morning, and managed to finish digging the bottom section of my plot. ( see picture on the left). I then tided up the top section where my brassicas where this year getting it ready to start digging. Hopefully I will start digging tomorrow if the rain forecast for tonight clears up by morning.

I am working on my web site at the moment ready for the 2013 season, trying to make it easier for me to update web pages and links. I might try and do a little re-styling hear and there as well, but I will not be making any drastic changes. If you have any items of interest or any tips or ideas please let me know by emailing me at the email address at the bottom of this page.

Saturday 8th

diigging the top section of my allotmentLots of rain yesterday so no visit to the allotment. This morning it was a lot better just a slight frost but there was plenty of sun. I therefore managed to start digging the top section of the allotment. I had a good productive morning, and managed to dig three quarters of the area. On my next visit I should finish my winter digging. The image shows the progress made this morning. So its back home and time to work on next years allotment web site and my planting plans for 2013.

Sunday 9th

Another productive morning at the allotment today. I managed to complete the rest of my winter digging, although it was very heavy going, having to clean the fork every for or five fork turns. Any way its completed now, just a few more tasks before Christmas after which I will have a break from the allotment and concentrate on planning for next year.

Plot dug and ready for winterI completed most of my winter tasks this morning by weeding, and composting of my Asparagus bed, and my Raspberry bed. Just need to tidy up the shed and greenhouse and all my tasks are done for the winter. The picture on the left shows my plot dug and ready for the winter. I will most probably take a break from the allotment now until January. This is when I will tidy the shed and green house ready for the next season. I will take this opportunity to thank all of you that read this diary of my allotment activities and for visiting my web site. I hope you find it useful. Have a great Christmas and New year. I will write again in January.
